This city in northern Morocco

This city in northern Morocco has been a haven for artists and authors like Paul Bowles and William S. Burroughs for decades. So it became known as a site where people from other countries really settled down. Villa Mabrouka, British designer Jasper Conran's second Moroccan property after L'Hôtel Marrakech, is set to open in the spring of 2019, which might help improve Tangier's image.

This hilltop villa, formerly the home of fashion superstar Yves Saint Laurent and his companion, has stunning views of the Bay of Tangier and is located within easy walking distance of the city's bustling medina. The Museum of  Contemporary Art (also known as the Kasbah Museum since it is located in the repurposed 17th-century Kasbah jail) displays the work of local artists and includes recent additions like Villa Mabrouka. The Fairmont Tazi Palace Tangier, located on a renovated century-old estate close to the old city, is another fresh face on the block. Already, people are getting excited about the 2025 opening of the Waldorf Astoria, a resort with 115 guest rooms and 21 villas that was just revealed. This is a quote by John Wogan:

Travel expert Engin Kadaster says interior southwestern Anatolia "will be highly popular in the years to come," a prediction that bodes well for American visitors who aren't limited to the more touristy coastal areas like Istanbul and Bodrum. Isparta, the biggest city in the Lakes Region and a hub for rose and lavender cultivation, and the historic hill city of Sagalassos were featured in an article that Kadaster helped arrange for T+L's August 2022 edition.

Naturally, the territory's most well-known feature is the chain of tectonic lakes formed by earthquakes on the foothills of the Taurus Mountains; nevertheless, the region is also home to several sites of antiquity from the Greek and Roman civilizations. As a result of the thankfully low number of tourists, there aren't a ton of high-end hotels here, but you can find some great options for a relaxing stay at places like Eskiciler Konai, a renovated century-old mansion near Lake Eirdir, or Aliya Konak, a seasonal farmstay on a working lavender operation in Isparta. The new Pisidia Heritage Trail connects historic places like Kremna and Adada with the region's beautiful landscape and Yazl Canyon is a popular camping spot for those who want to avoid the crowds and high prices of nearby hotels — Hannah Walhout.

Although T+L's Travel Destination of the Year is undergoing a once-in-a-lifetime transformation, certain things will always remain the same. Hotels in the country's ancient capitals, for example, will always include a combination of great elegance and kind hospitality. The stylish urban outpost of the famous Gleneagles resort, Gleneagles Townhouse, opened in the heart of Edinburgh this past summer, and next year London will welcome the cool glam of the Peninsula London, designed by Peter Marino. The Manchester Museum, which is devoted to natural history, and the Burrell Collection in Glasgow, which is a spectacular variety of foreign art and antiquities, are just two of the many world-class museums in the United Kingdom that have recently received improvements.

Manchester has a new cultural center called The Factory, and it's named after the record company that released classic albums by the Happy Mondays and New Order in the '80s. Visitors visiting London's newest Arcade Food Hall at Battersea Power Station, the next phase in the redevelopment of the historic edifice, will want to enjoy the diverse selection of culinary pleasures on offer. Dundreggan, the first rewilding center in Scotland, is an excellent destination for those who want to see the stunning British countryside. This 10,000-acre estate on the banks of Loch Ness in Scotland will establish a visitor's center managed by the nonprofit Trees for Life by the end of 2023. On the other hand, the new Two Toms Trail in Lancashire extends for 25 miles and passes through some of the most beautiful landscapes in all of England. To quote Peter Terzian:

Is it safe to travel to Morocco as a solo female traveler? Two days ago, I had a dream about flying with hands over a deserted area that looked like Egypt or Morocco. Perhaps it was a sign to pack my backpack and go there!
