Takamine Artist Focus: Jeremy McKinnon (A Day To Remember)

Takamine Artist Focus: Jeremy McKinnon (A Day To Remember)

From country to folk to bluegrass to pop, Takamine has developed the reputation over its near 60-year history as being the performing songwriter’s guitar of choice. The ease of transition from writing room to studio to stage is one of the things that people count on from their Takamine guitars, and that is certainly the case with Jeremy McKinnon, the co-founder, primary songwriter, co-producer, and lead vocalist of Ocala, FL-based rock band A Day To Remember.

Founded in 2003, ADTR has been described as a fusion of metalcore and pop punk genres. Their latest album You’re Welcome was released in March 2021, and as their first new release in five years was met with high levels of anticipation. This has paid off; the album has sold 350,000 equivalent until worldwide, and their song “Everything We Need” promptly hit the #1 slot on rock radio in the USA.

How does acoustic guitar come into play in a band with a primarily pop/rock sound? Jeremy has long turned to his Takamine guitars for songwriting, as well as for the band’s occasional acoustic shows and acoustic songs during their bigger live concerts. However, with ADTR’s “Re-Entry” tour having kicked off in late September (see below for the current tour dates), Jeremy found that he needed an additional guitar to supplement the Takamine Pro Series P7NC he’s been using to have on hand for alternate tunings.

Jeremy’s choice for a new Takamine is another piece of evidence that he’s a musician with great taste. His newest acquisition is the Glenn Frey Signature Series EF360GF. As you’re probably aware, Glenn was a co-founder of the classic Southern California-based rock/country band Eagles. The EF360GF is a direct reproduction of Glenn's #1 Takamine - the guitar heard around the world by millions of fans on countless concert tours. It offers the classic tone of a spruce and rosewood dreadnought guitar, perfect for a song like ADTR’s “Everything We Need”.

Jeremy's acoustic show is really mesmerizing. He really looks good with his Takamine guitar!

Another favorite artist. I saw him years ago when I was just a teenager. Glad he's still doing well but I haven't heard the new album yet
