Best of the Best: Top-Tier Takamine Guitars

Most of you know that Takamine makes a wide range of acoustic guitars. Many of them are designed for people looking to get a lot of bang for their buck, and we’re proud to offer a wide variety of guitars in our G Series, which meets the budget of working musicians and hobbyists. But Takamine’s reputation was built on the incredible handcrafted instruments that are made one at a time by the master luthiers at our facility in Sakashita, Japan. Here’s a spotlight on some of the finest high-end Takamine models that rival the quality, tone, and playability of any guitar at any price.

LTD2025
It’s this year’s annual special Limited Edition guitar, and it offers a distinctive elegance that’s unlike any other Takamine model. Limited to just 300 guitars for the world, the LTD2025 has a top of Engelmann spruce, finished in beautiful Antique Evergreen finish, with Hawaiian koa back and sides.

CP6SSDC
Another Limited Edition Takamine, the CP6SSDC is am amazing slope-shoulder dreadnought cutaway with a deep cherry sunburst finish. Perfect for players looking for a rootsy Americana sound and vibe, this guitar provides a bold Adirondack spruce top, with sapele back and sides.

P7NC
The first entry on this list from Takamine’s renowned Pro Series, the P7NC offers the distinctively great NEX body style, combining the power of a dreadnought with balanced tone that perfectly complements a singer’s vocal range. The P7NC is handcrafted with a solid spruce top with scalloped "X" bracing, and solid rosewood back and sides for superior balance and articulation.

P7DC
It’s a similar story with the Pro Series P7DC, a dreadnought cutaway that’s built one at a time by the master luthiers at Takamine Japan. Designed for professional acoustic guitarists, the P7DC is made with a solid spruce top with scalloped "X" top bracing, along with solid rosewood back and sides for rich clarity and projection.

EF450C TT
This stunning guitar is a favorite of many of professional Takamine players in places like Nashville, where the beauty of the instrument is matched only by its sweet tone. Part of Takamine’s TT (Thermal Top) Series, is uses a spruce top that’s treated with high heat, resulting in the sound of a vintage instrument right out of the box. The EF450C TT also stands out with its wonderfully ornate "Grass Flower" fingerboard inlays, made by hand from hundreds of pieces of abalone and pearl. It’s available in both Brown Sunburst and Transparent Blackburst finishes.

TSP100
Available in Deep Blue Sunburst and Vintage Tobacco finishes over their highly-figured arched quilted maple tops, the TSP100 is part of the hand-built Thinline Series, offering expressive tone, outstanding build quality, and incredible playing comfort. For pro players who don’t want to wrestle with the bulk of a dreadnought or jumbo guitar, these gorgeous Thinline guitars are perfect for both studio and stage.

EF75M TT
Another phenomenal guitar in our TT (Thermal Top) Series, the Limited Edition EF75M is based on an iconic earlier Takamine model, the EF75S, an OM guitar with AAA Sitka spruce top and Brazilian rosewood back and sides. Only about 80 of these were produced. The EF75M TT offers the same outstanding specs, but with the advantages of a heat-treated spruce top, imparting that desirable played-in vibe from day one, along with beautiful and ultra-rare Madagascar rosewood back and sides.

DB10
This highly coveted — and very unique — hybrid crossover bass guitar has the standard 34” scale you expect form a bass, but the fretboard has the radius of an upright bass, which allows for bowing. It even has a tail pin extension peg so you can play it as an upright. If you find a DB10 out there in the wild, snap it up immediately.

THE 60TH
In 2022, Takamine marked the occasion of their 60th anniversary in business with a Limited Edition Series guitar that represented the very finest craftsmanship and expert master luthier work that can go into an acoustic guitar. Simply called THE 60TH, only 60 of these models were made. It has a body shape based on an early Takamine design that adapted a classical body to an x-braced concert steel string, with the addition of a distinctive cutaway. The top, back, and sides are made of solid highly-figured Hawaiian koa. Everything about THE 60TH, from its hand-shaped and shaved bracing to the authenticated genuine diamond embedded as an inlay on the headstock, is rare and precious, and places it at the very pinnacle of the Takamine guitar offerings in history.
