Takamine is proud to announce that producer/multi-instrumentalist Ivan Lopez has joined its esteemed family of artist endorsees. Ivan is perhaps best known for his work alongside fellow Takamine artist and emerging superstar Xavi.

While Ivan is respected as a multi-instrumentalist, guitar is the primary instrument that he uses to blend traditional Mexican sounds with contemporary urban production. You can hear his excellent rhythm guitar performances on a number of Xavi’s songs, including popular corridos tumbados tracks like "La Víctima" and “Next."

Ivan has been using a number of Takamine guitars, notably a Legacy Series EF381SC with customized graphics and a Signature Series GB7C. More recently, Ivan has also picked up a Takamine G Series GD37CE in gleaming Pearl White finish.

Why does Ivan choose to play Takamine?

“I play Takamine because it’s a very comfortable guitar. But also, the sound of the guitar represents a lot of today’s sound in the Mexican regional scene and other genres.”

Ivan continues, “I was introduced to Takamine by a cousin of mine. He was just starting to learn guitar, and I asked him if he could teach me. I loved the sound of the guitar, and ever since, I’ve always used Takamine.”
