Premium Wood Brilliance: Special Limited Edition DMP500CE DC

In the world of instrument design, it’s rare that every component is so well considered as is the case with the DMP500CE. Takamine luthiers have hand-picked a selection of woods that include a select bearclaw Engelmann spruce top, a solid rosewood back and rosewood sides, an ebony fingerboard with special inlays, and incredible details like Hawaiian koa binding and striping.

Engelmann spruce is a dynamic and “fast” top wood that yields a highly sought-after touch sensitivity. The addition of nature’s own “bearclaw” variation makes for a rare and beautiful top. Along with the other premium tonewoods, the DMP500CE offers a deep thump to the bottom end, and a glossy sheen to the highs. Takamine then uses their CT4 DX preamp to combine both the legendary Palathetic™ pickup with a internal Takamine soundboard transducer, providing a broad palette of tonal color at your fingertips. It all comes together in a striking NEX-sized guitar designed for seasoned players and collectors alike. The DMP500CE is handcrafted in Sakashita, Japan by Takamine’s world-class team of luthiers.

The only place in the world to find the beautiful and distinctive grain of koa wood is on the Hawaiian islands, and it has garnered a well-deserved reputation as an amazingly balanced tonewood that somehow preserves its mellow warmth while adding the wonderful sparkle that will take your performances and recordings to the next level.

Not only is the CP181ACK constructed of stunning flamed Hawaiian koa on its top, back, and sides, but the top and back are also arched, resulting in a guitar that projects wonderfully and a sound that blooms under your fingers… with a tone that inspires you to play on and on! This guitar doesn’t skimp on any detail either, with green heart abalone rosette, inlay, and abalone logo, an ebony fingerboard with special reverse mountain inlays, vintage cream binding and striping, and a Takamine CTP3 preamp fed by our highly-acclaimed Palathetic™ pickup.
