TT Series
New Takamine Guitars at Summer NAMM 2015
Meet the new TT “Thermal Top” Guitars
You already know that Takamine is one of the most revered names in acoustic guitars. Earlier this year, the distribution of Takamine for the world’s largest guitar-playing market — the USA — was given to ESP Guitars, and we were determined to make a big splash at our first major US trade show with the Takamine brand. At Summer NAMM in July, visitors to our booth were blown away by our huge selection of instruments, and were especially excited to try out our two newest additions to the Takamine lineup: the EF340S TT and the EF360S TT.
“Thermal Top” For Authentic Vintage Tones
These new models take advantage of Takamine’s “Thermal Top” technology, in which the spruce wood for the guitar tops are baked in a vacuum environment. The result is the highly-desirable tone that a musician expects from a much older instrument in a brand new guitar. If you’ve ever had the chance to play (and more importantly, hear) an acoustic guitar that’s 50 or more years old, you’re already familiar with the amazing depth and boldness that wood naturally acquires over the decades. With the new TT models, you get that tone along with the tremendous playability of a new instrument that’s been handcrafted by Takamine’s world-class team of luthiers in Sakashita, Japan.
EF340S TT: Mahogany Beauty
This dreadnought features a solid “thermal” spruce top, and solid mahogany back and sides. Any experienced player knows the warm, honest, and articulate sound produced by the combination of spruce and mahogany, which is as great for flat pickers as it is for fingerstyle guitar. The EF340S TT also features an ebony fingerboard and rosewood bridge. Its body is edged in classic faux tortoiseshell binding, and includes retro open back 15-1 Gotoh nickel butter-bean tuners. When its time to plug in, the EF340S TT offers the Takamine TLD-2 preamp fed by a legendary Palathetic™ pickup. Other details include a rosewood headstock overlay with the iconic Takamine “T” inlay.
EF360S TT: Rosewood Classic
Also taking advantage of Takamine’s “Thermal Top” technology, the EF360S TT is a dreadnought that pairs its solid spruce top with beautiful solid rosewood back and sides. Again, the classic sound of a rosewood-bodied guitar is well known among serious players, with deep yet solid bass and shimmering, detailed highs that seem to resonate long after you’ve strummed the last chord. Gorgeous ebony is used for this guitar’s fingerboard, and the body is edged in grained ivoroid binding. Like the EF340S TT, the EF360S TT offers retro open back 15-1 Gotoh nickel butter-bean tuners, a Takamine TLD-2 preamp, and our highly-acclaimed Palathetic pickup.
