Jacob Johnson: "Smile"
Jacob Johnson: "Smile"
Takamine artist Jacob Johnson always delivers some of the most expressive playing imaginable on his battle-worn Pro Series P3DC dreadnought cutaway, so it's no wonder that his latest tune is as lovely as it is. And if it has a familiar melody, that's because your great-grandparents probably danced to it once or twice. "Smile" was composed by Charlie Chaplin for his 1936 film Modern Times, and renditions have been done by everyone from Nat King Cole to Michael Jackson to Lady Gaga. Ironically enough, the now-90-year-old film was about holding on to our humanity as technology transforms the world around us... something most of us can definitely relate to today! You can listen to Jacob's outstanding take on "Smile" via Spotify and other streaming platforms.
