Now Available: Limited-Edition CP6SSDC and CP5D-OAD

Here are two very different guitars that share the common aspects of being collectible limited-edition guitars built by hand at our Pro Series facility in Japan. The bright and cheery CP6SSDC is a slope-shoulder dreadnought cutaway with a deep cherry sunburst finish that is made for the rootsy "Americana" sound. The CP5D-OAD is an elegant dreadnought that pairs the grand sound of its Adirondack spruce top with beautiful and toneful ovangkol. Both guitars are available right now at your authorized Takamine dealer!

Should You Be Playing a Cedar or Spruce Top?

Not all guitar players are the same. Some of us play delicately, and others pound the strings like a jackhammer. Some do fingerstyle, others strum with a pick. The response of the guitar’s top wood, where most of the sonic character is found, makes a drastic difference in your overall sound. Read this article to learn whether a cedar top or spruce top makes more sense for your playing style, and then head to your Takamine dealer to try one out and see for yourself!
