Takamine’s NEX Shape:
The Best of Both Worlds

It was in 1992, more than 30 years after Takamine started producing our acclaimed guitars, that we determined something new was needed. While many people appreciate the booming response of a dreadnought or jumbo, others find these massive guitars to be less than ideal for playing comfortably. Enter the NEX shape, which has the nicely curved lines of the jumbo, but in a more compact and manageable size that still imparts a big sound, with plenty of overtones and lush sonic fullness. Learn more about our NEX-style guitars that include the LTD-2018 Gifu-Cho, the Legacy Series EF508KC, the Thermal Top Series EF450C TT, and more.

Read this in-depth interview where Jeremy discusses what makes Takamine right for him. “All those songs I wrote, and still do. It all comes to mind when I see that logo. It’s bigger than just the instrument itself.”
