Limited Edition Series FN15 AR Demo by Mark Blasquez

Another great new addition to our Limited Edition Series, the FN15 AR is based on the design of Takamine's revered Natural Series. This guitar pairs a solid cedar top with spectacular Amazon rosewood back and sides for a powerfully musical combination. Limited to a run of just 300 pieces worldwide, the FN15 AR features a newly-designed rosette pattern and a smooth satin finish, much like the original Natural Series offered, as well as the retro-inspired CTF-2N preamp that includes 2-band EQ, notch filter, and built-in tuner. The touring life has been rewarding for Garth Brooks, the world’s best-selling solo artist of all time. Even so, with the challenges of going city-to-city across the country and around the world, Garth has a new plan for his live shows that start later this year and extend deep into 2024: Vegas, baby! Guitar of the Month: GD11MCE

What is sapele? It’s a beautiful and sustainable wood that offers a consistent and balanced guitar tone that’s similar to mahogany, but with a slightly brighter, more shimmery sound, which works well whether you’re a hard strummer or a delicate fingerstylist. The GD11MCE is a dreadnought cutaway with a Natural Satin finish that gives it that terrific old-school vibe. When it’s time to plug in, the transition to the stage is made effortless with the addition of Takamine’s own TP-4T electronics, complete with an equalizer and chromatic tuner built-in.

Tech Corner: Understanding Scale Length

Can slight differences of the scale length of a guitar make drastic differences in playing feel and tone? 100% yes. Scale length is measured as twice the distance between the nut and the 12th fret of a guitar, and the difference of less than an inch impacts everything from sustain to whether or not you can bend a string. Takamine’s Tom Watters teaches you more on the topic, and then you can hear the difference for yourself when expert player Jake Allen tries out the Pro Series P4DC (644mm, or 25.35" scale length) versus the Limited Edition CP6SSDC (630mm, or 24.8" scale length).

Four Great Takamine 12-Strings

Especially in the early days of Takamine, our acoustic guitars first gained worldwide attention for two things: being able to easily plug in and take to the stage, and the remarkable popularity of our 12-string models. Today, while Takamine is known for a wide range of guitar types for different players in various styles of music, our selection of 12-string models remains as vibrant as ever. These guitars are being used not just for strummed pop, country, and worship music, but are a crucial element for many artists in the Regional Mexican music genres. Here are four great Takamine 12-string models at different prices so you can choose the one that’s right for you.
